1st Weekend!

Cheerio good mates!

First weekend here, and the roommates and I decided to go to Brighton, this gorgeous beach town in the Southside of England. About an hour away from London on the train, not bad at all.

See? ok good.

Rural England is sooooo different and peaceful.

It was absolutely gorgeous!
There's...

1. A more authentic beachy-feeling pier w/ rollercoasters, carnival games, and the such.
2. A beautiful boardwalk filled with lots of food, seaside bars, and clubs.
3. Home of the Royal Pavilion, where King George IV lived with his illegitimate Catholic wife.
4. Completely pebbled beach, hurts like a mofo to walk on!
----Story? Some say it's because a Royal hated the feeling of sand between her feet and
ordered the whole area to be covered in pebbles.
----Other story? There was deep erosion and this was an effort to help prevent it.
5. Went to my first catholic church, St Paul's in Brighton, it was beautiful, but awkward. Haha.
6. Met some tall-ass Oompa Loompas.
7. Brighton-ers must love their donuts fsho, they even have a sculpture devoted to it.

We ate at a cute little place called Buddies' on the Boardwalk, and the waiter gave us a sample of Aftershock liquor, which tastes just like cough syrup, not as much strong alcohol flavor, and contains 50% alcohol content.. delicious...

Clubbing at night!
Went to Walkabout, a not so pretty club, but filled with half British natives and half foreigners.

What I learned:
1. Londoners dance like they are obsessed with the macarena, raising the roof, and other interesting movements.
2. Boys and girls are not afraid or timid to get their shake on, even if it's just jumping up and down.
3. Londoners officially love the American music. Ever danced to All American Rejects, Simple Plan, and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus at a club? I can officially say that I have! Hahaha.
4. There are coat checks, but they cost 1.50 pounds per item. Something to consider when going out in a huge fur coat.
5. Covers are egh in price, but the drinks are cheap! 3 pounds for a Long Island! No tip needed!
6. Foreign country boys are much, much, much more forward than American boys, but I'm sure you all could have figured that out before. They're also more respectful when you reject them... so far. Haha.
7. Night busses are kind of a mess and should not be taken without careful knowledge.

Yay train ride!

The countryside, with massive fogggg.

Street view of downtown Brighton

The sky is parting for us today! It was really a very beautiful day of 6 degrees celsius after the fog cleared up.

Nom nom nom :)

Do you see the pebbles?

Us with our donuts! Sf's are still betterrr

Beautiful St Paul's Church

Fish and Chips + a pint of Stella Artois :)

Cheers!

Royal Pavilion is inspired by the Taj Mahal, but the inside is completely Chinese decorated... go figure.

...and some Oompa Loompas to top it all off!
